Pleasant gardens where Zephyrs and Flora
Find themselves every day at the rising of Dawn;
Charming places which can in your dark recesses,
Soften the troubles of the saddest lovers,
Stop recalling, in my insane soul,
The glory finally passed of my first happiness.
It was, I remember, in this ancient wood
That Philis appeared to me for the first time.
It is here that often, dispelling my alarms,
She stopped my sighs and my tears with a word.
