Septembre
Le dais du firmament aussi paraît nouveau ;
Septembre
Les arbres cependant ont épuisé leur sève ;

gladys-lemirele 04-09-2023 à 10:10:23 A nice little story....
Ladybugs are colloquially called God's beasts.
This nickname comes from a legend dating back to the 10th century.
The story goes that in the Middle Ages, a man was accused of a crime he did not commit.
Sentenced to death for this murder committed in Paris, this man, who proclaimed his innocence, owed his salvation to the presence of the little insect.
Indeed, on the day of his public execution, the condemned man had to have his head cut off.
But a ladybug landed on his neck.
So the executioner removed the ladybug very delicately and raised his ax to cut the young man's neck.
What was his surprise when he noticed that the ladybug was back on the poor boy's neck!
The executioner insisted, but the ladybug was obstinate, so much so that the then king (Robert the Pious) intervened, considering that the event was a miracle and that the ladybug was accomplishing a divine mission.
King Robert II (972-1031) decided to pardon the man.
A few days later, the real murderer was found. The spectators, convinced that the Almighty had sent the ladybug to save this innocent man, gave him the name God's Beast.
From then on, the people of Paris were talking about the beast of God and no one would have crushed this little insect at the risk of committing sacrilege.
Today, the ladybug is known to bring luck and is a gardener's best friend!
This story spread very quickly and the ladybug was therefore considered a good luck charm.
