Poème

In Paris, in summer, the evenings are stifling.
And me, a black walker whom the children avoid,
Who flees joy and wanders many leagues,
On those days, I go to the sad suburbs.
I take some alley where grass grows
And of which a rotating wall is the only horizon.
I like these deserted places where the foot rings,
Where I'm almost sure I won't meet anyone.

Above the enclosures the lime trees smell good;
And on the fresh plaster are written in charcoal
The intertwined names of Victoire and Eugène,
Popular and naive monument, which does not bother
Not at all the odious sketch next door
Traced clumsily, with a cheeky charcoal,
Passing after them, pre-pubescent debauchery.

And, when the first street lamp lights up in the distance,
I reach the main street, where I can still see
Shopkeepers chilling on the sidewalk,
While, to show off her plump shapes a little,
Their daughter plays grace with her so-called.

The Bad Guys told me their frivolous lies:
But I only like the words
Of the eternal Truth.
Full of the divine fire that inspires me,
Today I dedicate my Lyre
To heavenly Charity.

In vain I would speak the language of the Angels.
In vain, my God, of your praises
I would fill the whole Universe:
Without love, my glory is equal
Than the glory of the cymbal,
Which with a vain noise strikes the air.

What is the use of my mind to pierce the abysses
Of the most sublime mysteries,
And to read into the future?
Without love, my knowledge is in vain,
Like the dream, of which barely
There remains a slight memory.

By the streams, by the waterfalls,
In the fields of flowering olive trees,
On the rocks, under the arcades
Whose time undermines the debris,
Under the walls of the old monastery.
In the wood that mystery loves,
Under the shade of the solitary pine,
Under the cool sheltered plane tree;

At the time when, under the humble cottage.
The goatherd takes his meal,
In the hour when the light shines,
At the time when the day does not shine;
Summer, when under the green shade
You come and sit down after work:
Winter, by the cold, by the storm;
Always, everywhere, I follow your steps.

When the Argentinian bells
Wake up the bird in its nest,
It’s me who follows you at matins:
And when the prayer ends.
Leaving the Gothic temple,
It's me who goes under the portico
Offer you, following ancient usage.
Holy water and the blessed branch.

Poéme

Take your life elsewhere, O you who was my life;
Pour elsewhere this treasure that I had for all good.
Go look for other places, you who were my homeland,
Will bloom, oh sun, oh my beautiful darling,
Make another love rich and remember mine.

Let my memory follow you far from France;

Sie haben ein einzigartiges und charmantes Aussehen;
Wie der Mond am Grund des Sees, der es reflektiert,
Deine Pupille, wo ein feuchter Glitzer glänzt,
Aus den Ecken deiner süßen Augen rollt träge;

Sie scheinen seine Diamantenfeuer genommen zu haben;
Sie sind schöneres Wasser als eine perfekte Perle,
Und deine großen Wimpern bewegten sich mit ihren besorgten Flügeln,
Nur zur Hälfte verbirgt sich ihr lebendiger Glanz.

Tausend kleine Lieben mit ihrem Flammenspiegel,
Sie kommen, um sich selbst schöner zu sehen und zu finden,
Und die Wünsche werden dort ihre Fackeln wieder entfachen.

Sie sind so transparent, dass sie deine Seele sehen lassen,
Wie eine himmlische Blume mit dem idealen Kelch
Dass wir durch einen Kristall sehen würden.
